The Refuge’s new vocational training program teaches at-risk youth the basics of restaurant work and customer service.
The Vocational Training program is 100 hours of vocational training, 10 hours per week for ten weeks. Participants shadow Refuge Café staff, gradually increasing the complexity of their duties each week. They also take part in bi-weekly life skills classes focused on budgeting, healthy eating habits, learning to cook and the cafe’s general manager is helping them in their permanent job search.
