The Arizona Republic recently featured The Refuge and their work with refugees. “Masumbuko spent a couple of years as a refugee in a camp in East Africa. The 18-year-old native of the Democratic Republic of Congo has been learning how to adjust to life on the outside, in the United States. A big part of his training is coming at The Refuge, the cafe where he works part time while attending high school.”

This month, The North Central News writes about our new mural outside The Refuge. The children in Catholic Charities’ Unaccompanied Minors program created the mural as a partnership with Free Arts of Arizona. Catholic Charities has been providing foster homes to children who have fled their home countries for safety for over 30 years. The tiles all represent the child’s “safe place” and each has a wonderful story behind them. We hope you will stop by to see their beautiful work!
